Aletheia Donald is a Senior Economist and thematic leader within the World Bank's Africa Gender Innovation Lab, where she leads research projects across Benin, Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Tanzania and Turkey, as well as the cross-institutional Measures for Advancing Gender Equality initiative. Her research focuses on gender and economic activity—including the effects of redistributive norms, mechanization, childcare, financial inclusion, women's land rights and intrahousehold cooperation—as well as methodological work on survey data collection. She is an affiliate of the Institute of Labor Economics and the Center for Research on Women and Jobs. Before joining the World Bank, Aletheia was a Research Fellow at Harvard's Evidence for Policy Design. She holds an MA in Economics from Yale University and a PhD in Economics from Sapienza University.
